Our customers currently pay for access to Stears’ intelligence through a web platform, that includes daily insight and data. Our experts are always ready to answer client data questions about any sector, market or African country. 

We are looking for a senior graphics designer who loves learning, being challenged, and working in a high performing team where he or she is supported, given responsibility, and held to high standards.

The Role

Why it’s important: The Stears newsroom publishes daily premium articles for our readers and subscribers. These premium articles are backed up by creative illustrations that are unique to Stears. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the newsroom to design creative illustrations to improve the quality of our newsroom articles.

As the senior graphics designer, you are responsible for:

  • Creating daily illustrations in collaboration with close collaboration with the newsroom.
  • Creating additional design assets, data visualization and pictograms as needed by the newsroom.
  • Working with a team of analysts and designers to improve the speed and standard of the newsroom illustrations.
  • Working closely with the marketing team to deliver marketing designs for the various Stears product and offerings and advisory reports.

Even larger opportunity:  Your role will focus on the different Stears product and service offerings, but in the near future you will be able to contribute ideas that influences the Stears brand.

Who you will work with: This role is part of the delivery team, reporting to the Design Lead. You will work closely with the Stears Product Marketing Manager and other designers working within the design team. Additionally, you will work with many internal stakeholders, including Head of Subscriptions, CEO, COO, CTO, Customer Success, Marketing, and Editorial.

Our ideal hire has:

  • 3 - 5 years experience in graphics design using:
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Adobe illustrator
    • Canva
  • Experience creating scalable design templates.
  • Experience creating clean and unique illustrations.
  • Clear understanding of colours, its applications and combinations.
  • Experience with data visualization, pictograms, and marketing designs on third party tools like canva.
  • Ability to create gifs and motion graphics would be an added advantage.
